Trainee Solicitor/SQE Qualifying Work Experience Opportunities
BWL Solicitors are seeking bright, enthusiastic and ambitious candidates to join our Firm. Applications are welcomed from:
- candidates seeking a period of recognised training as a trainee solicitor under the Legal Practice Course (“LPC”) route, where eligible under the applicable transitional arrangements; and
- candidates pursuing qualification through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (“SQE”) route who are seeking qualifying work experience (“QWE”).
The Role
Successful candidates will initially join the firm as paralegals, providing an opportunity to develop practical legal skills and become familiar with the firm’s work, clients and professional standards.
Subject to performance, business requirements and the applicable route to qualification, candidates may subsequently undertake either a training contract or a period of QWE. Experience may be gained across several practice areas, including:
- commercial and residential conveyancing;
- litigation and dispute resolution;
- matrimonial and family law; and
- wills, probate and private client work.
The structure and duration of each candidate’s training or QWE will be determined by the firm and the requirements of the relevant route to qualification.

- confidence in using information technology and case management systems;
- the ability to accept responsibility, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines; and
- a commitment to delivering high-quality client service and adding value to the firm.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Applicants should be eligible to pursue qualification as a solicitor of England and Wales through one of the following routes:
SQE route: candidates should have, or expect to obtain, a degree or equivalent qualification or experience and should be undertaking, or intending to undertake, the SQE assessments. Applications are welcomed from candidates at different stages of the SQE process, including those seeking QWE before, during or after completing SQE1 or SQE2.
LPC transitional route: candidates relying on the applicable transitional arrangements should have completed a qualifying law degree or appropriate conversion course and should have completed, or be in the process of completing, the LPC.
Any training contract or QWE offered will be subject to the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s requirements and the candidate satisfying the applicable eligibility criteria.
