Ann qualified as a Legal Executive in 1999 and now occupies a key position in our Property Team dealing with both residential and commercial property transactions. Ann speaks fluent Welsh and has interests in hill walking, skiing and travelling.
Emily Rees LL.B.
Having grown up in Swansea, Emily completed her Degree in Law at Exeter University before deciding to travel prior to committing herself to a legal career. Following her travels Emily joined BWL as a paralegal excelling in both our Litigation and Property Departments. Emily finalised the academic stage of her training by completing the LPC at Swansea University before commencing a Training Contract with BWL on 1 August 2014, qualifying as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales on 1 August 2016. Now an Associate in our Conveyancing Department, Emily deals with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing work and has a strong Portfolio of Commercial clients which she has personally developed. Outside the Office Emily continues to enjoy travelling and is a keen walker.
Geoffrey Rees LL.B., A.L.C.M.
Geoffrey grew up in Swansea and was educated at Bishop Gore School before attending Exeter University where he read Law. He completed his Solicitor’s academic training at the Colleges of Law in London and Chester before undertaking Articles of Clerkship in Swansea and the City of London. Following qualification as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, Geoffrey worked in London in the litigation departments of two prestigious and high profile international firms. In 1988 Geoffrey returned to his home town of Swansea to lead the Litigation Department at BWL as a Partner, becoming Managing Partner in October 2009. Geoffrey has extensive knowledge of the legal process and continues with his litigation background dealing with contentious probate matters. He now heads our Private Client team undertaking wills, probate and estate administration. He also manages the “Certainty” project for Will registration, helping to safeguard clients’ wishes.
J David Jones LL.B., TEP
Admitted as a Solicitor in February 1982, David is a member of Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Solicitors for Business and The Law Society’s Probate Section. David heads up our Property Department having vast experience in all aspects of Property work including commercial and residential property, landlord and tenant work with a keen speciality in Charity law. David’s interests include fishing, walking and classic cars.
Kayleigh James LL.B.
Kayleigh was born and educated in Swansea. Following successful completion of her Law Degree at Aberystwyth University Kayleigh moved to Guildford College of Law (now The University of Law) to complete her LPC. Kayleigh then returned to Swansea and joined Peter Williams & Company as a Paralegal in 2009 and was offered a Training Contract with the firm shortly thereafter. Kayleigh qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in May 2012 and is now a key member of the Family Team at BWL, acting as the first point of contact for clients wishing to be advised of their rights in matters ranging from relationship breakdowns to care proceedings and children matters. Kayleigh is also a member of Resolution, an association which promotes a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters.
Mary Rogers F.Inst L.Ex.
Mary joined BWL in the summer of 2000, having worked in the law for many years. Originally from Brynmill, Mary attended Mynydd Bach School where she achieved both “O” and “A” Levels. Upon leaving school, Mary took a job as a legal secretary with a local law firm, gaining valuable experience in legal practice, procedure and client care. Mary originally joined BWL as a Legal Executive and has since proceeded to obtain the prestigious Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives. This qualification affords her right of audience in the County Court as well as other Tribunals. Mary specialises in complex personal injury claims, ranging from serious road traffic accidents to employer and public liability cases.
Matthew Phillips LL.B.
Matthew attended Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera and subsequently completed his Law degree and Legal Practice Course at Swansea University. Upon leaving university, Matthew worked as a paralegal in both Swansea and Cardiff, joining BWL in November 2012. Having proved himself in our Litigation Department as a Litigation Assistant, Matthew was offered, and accepted a Training Contract commencing on the 1st December 2014. Matthew is a season ticket holder at Swansea City AFC, a member of Neath Golf Club and a fluent Welsh speaker.
Nathan Ebenezer LL.B.
Nathan joined BWL in the spring of 2009, originally as a paralegal working in the Litigation Department. Growing up in Swansea, Nathan was educated at Bishopston Comprehensive School and Olchfa Sixth Form. He completed his Law Honours Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Wales Cardiff, before taking 6 months out for a “round the world” trip. Nathan was quickly promoted to Trainee Solicitor, qualifying as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales on 1st August 2011 and becoming a Partner in May 2014. Nathan is now a key member of the Private Client Team and is the first point of contact for clients wishing to prepare a Will. He is also a member of our Property Team, dealing with both residential and non-residential matters. Outside of work, Nathan is a keen surfer who also enjoys playing cricket, football and golf.
Patrick Moroney A.C.I.B., T.E.P.
Private Client Executive
Patrick was born and raised in Ireland before moving to Wales in 1966, when he commenced his career in the Executor & Trustee Department of Lloyds Bank. There he attained the A.C.I.B. (Trustee Diploma) and later became a manager specialising in Wills, Executorships and Trusts. In 2001 he qualified as a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) – the professional body whose members specialise in trusts and/or estates, executorship, Will writing, administration and related taxes. Patrick retired from his position in Lloyds Private Banking in 2002 and shortly after joined BWL as a Probate and Trust Executive in our Private Client Department. He provides clients with his wide experience in the field of wills, trusts, inheritance tax and estate administration.
Paul Bevan LL.B.
Paul is a Partner at the firm, joining BWL in 1997. He is head of the Litigation Team and specialises in litigation and personal injury law. Originally educated in Swansea, Paul attended the Law School at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth where he completed his Law Degree (attaining a 2:1), before moving to the College of Law, Chester to complete his academic training. He qualified as a Solicitor of the Superior Courts of England and Wales in 1993. Paul deals primarily with Claimant based work, but also manages a number of Defence claims in the Courts. Paul’s caseload is varied, including serious and high value personal injury actions; professional negligence disputes against surveyors, architects and other solicitors, together with contentious boundary, building and intellectual property disputes. He is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Richard Davies LL.B.
Richard was born and educated in Neath. Following successful completion of his Law Degree at Swansea University, Richard moved to Bristol to complete his postgraduate studies at the University of the West of England. After achieving his postgraduate Diploma, Richard accepted a Training Contract at BWL and subsequently the position of Associate Solicitor following his qualification as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in Autumn 2008. After a successful few years as an Associate Richard was offered and accepted a Partnership in May 2014. He now occupies a senior position in the Litigation Team, specialising in personal injury claims. Richard also handles complex private law disputes, ranging from breaches of contract to debt recovery and neighbour disputes. Richard is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and is actively involved in a number of projects with the Swansea and District Law Society.
Robert grew up in Swansea and was educated locally. After completing his education he joined a local firm of Solicitors and completed his 5 year Article training, where he gained valuable experience in a variety of fields. He joined BWL in 1978, working predominantly within the conveyancing department. He then began dealing with commercial property matters before being made a Partner. He acted as Managing Partner in the firm, before retiring in May 2014. He now works as a Consultant within BWL and remains a member of the Property team, advising high net worth clients in complex commercial property matters. He also acts for a variety of clients, from sole traders and small businesses to multi-million pound ventures. In addition, Robert acts as the primary legal advisor to a number of large local estates.
